Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for grant funds of $10,000 from the Minnesota Department of Health and, if awarded, accept and enter into a grant agreement.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation is requesting permission to apply for and accept $10,000 in grant funds from the Minnesota Department of Health to support the implementation of walking programs geared towards people who have been diagnosed with arthritis; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide quality instructors and programming to enhance the physical activity levels in those with arthritis; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds if awarded, will require a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health which includes an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide quality instructors and programming to enhance the physical activity levels of those with arthritis has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for, and if awarded, enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health to accept these funds.
