Recognizing the City of Saint Paul’s participation in Welcoming Week.

WHEREAS, Welcoming America is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to encourage and support communities to be more inclusive and welcoming towards immigrants, and
WHEREAS, each year in September Welcoming America sponsors a series of events hosted by local communities collectively known as Welcoming Week, and
WHEREAS, these Welcoming Week events bring together immigrants and those born within this country in a spirit of unity to foster and build strong connections across their communities and to affirm the benefits of welcoming everyone, and
WHEREAS, this year Welcoming Week will occur from September 13-22, and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul recently become a member of Welcoming America and will be participating this year in Welcoming Week through a social media campaign that highlights the City of Saint Paul as a welcoming community, and now therefore be it,
RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council recognizes Welcoming Week as a time to celebrate the City of Saint Paul as a Welcoming City and supports the City of Saint Paul’s participation in Welcoming Week.
