Accepting the gift of travel expenses, lodging, and conference costs, not to exceed $1000, from the Knight Foundation and the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) for City staff to attend the 2019 NACTO Designing Cities Conference.

Whereas, the Designing Cities Conference will be held on September 9-12, 2019, in Toronto, Canada; and,
WHEREAS, the Knight Foundation and the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) have graciously offered financial assistance to the City of Saint Paul staff to attend by providing two complimentary conference registrations as well as lodging and travel expenses not to exceed $1000 for selected participants; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works intends to send Reuben Collins and Luke Hanson to the conference due to their involvement in city planning and transportation policy efforts; and
WHEREAS, the conference and exhibition provide the transportation and city planning industry with best practices tailored to urban areas such as Saint Paul; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at this conference will be beneficial to the City by providing staff with opportunities to interact with leading urban professionals from peer cities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses, lodging and conference registration from the Knight Foundation and NACTO and thanks them for their generous gift.
