Accepting the gift of design and construction of two handball courts in Clayland Park, valued at approximately $53,200, from the Hamline-Midway Coalition, on behalf of the Hamline-Midway Youth Handball Development Committee.

WHEREAS, the Hamline-Midway Youth Handball Development Committee approached the City with a plan for developing handball courts in St. Paul; and
WHEREAS, the City has space at Clayland Park, 901 Fairview Avenue North, where such courts could be located; and
WHEREAS, the Hamline-Midway Youth Handball Development Committee engaged the Hamline Midway Coalition, a 501(c)(3) corporation, to fundraise for all costs of the project, except for the land; and
WHEREAS, private funds were raised to pay for the design and construction of the handball courts; and
WHEREAS, the gift is the design and construction of the handball courts, valued at $53,200; and
WHEREAS, the Hamline-Midway Youth Handball Development Committee requested quotes from contractors, selected a contractor, and a contractor installed the handball courts in 2019 according to the specifications of the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept the donation of the two handball courts and their installation in Clayland Park; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul Council accepts the donation of the two handball courts and their installation in Clayland Park and thanks the Hamline-Midway Coalition, on behalf of the Hamline-Midway Youth Handball Development Committee, for their generous gift.
