Authorizing the Fire Department to solicit funds to pay for a bronze bust of William and Alfred Godette to be displayed in the lobby of Fire Department Headquarters.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department would like to solicit funds to pay for a bronze bust of the William and Alfred Godette to be displayed in the lobby at the Fire Department Headquarters; and
WHEREAS, William Godette was the first black Lieutenant and Captain in the fire department and Alfred Godette was a pipeman who died in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department administration building is named the "William and Alfred Godette Memorial Building"; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that this is an appropriate project for the solicitation of and use of donated funds; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Administrative Code 41.04 permits solicitation of donation of over $500 or less by the Mayor or designee or City Council or designee; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes Gerone Hamilton to solicit funds for this purpose; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the name will be filed with the Saint Paul City Clerk and quarterly reports of all solicitations will be submitted to the City Clerk, Mayor, and each council person
