Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept the donation of travel and hotel costs from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for a Project Manager to attend the Kauffman Foundation’s ESHIP Summit May 21-23rd in Kansas City.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is a national foundation with strong local roots and fosters informed and engaged communities, which is essential for a healthy democracy; and

 

WHEREAS, the foundation will be sponsoring the 2019 ESHIP Summit, where the primary subject discussed will be building entrepreneurial ecosystems and the tech sector; and

 

WHEREAS, the Full Stack Project Manager has been invited to attend this forum where the costs of travel, air, lodging and meals will be covered by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, the public purpose of the Project Manager’s participation in this event is to gain information that will benefit the Planning & Economic Development’s tech, innovation, and entrepreneurship sector strategy; and

 

WHEREAS, the Planning & Economic Development Department would like to accept this unsolicited donation of $1,000 (one thousand dollars);

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul that:

 

1.                     The City of Saint Paul accepts this generous donation and extends its sincere thanks to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, 200 S. Biscayne Blvd, Ste 3300, Miami, FL 33131.

 

2.                     The Director of the Planning & Economic Department and appropriate City staff are authorized and directed to take the necessary actions to implement this Resolution.
