Amending the term of the Mayor’s appointment of Sheri Riemers to the Workforce Innovation Board.
Body
WHEREAS, local workforce development boards are required entities under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to provide oversight for the public workforce system; and
WHEREAS, The Workforce Innovation Board is made up of thirty-three (33) members representing Business, Community-Based Organizations, One-Stop Workforce Center Partners, Labor, Economic Development, Education, and Elected Officials; and
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2019 the City Council passed RES 19-523 approving Mayor Carter’s appointment of Sheri Riemers to the Workforce Innovation Board as a representative from a community-based organization that provides workforce training programming, and
WHEREAS, the bylaws of the Workforce Innovation Board state that all board terms are to ed on July 31 and are staggered between even and odd years, and
WHEREAS, the Workforce Innovation Board Membership Committee and Executive Committee of the Workforce Innovation Board had recommended Sheri Riemers for appointment to a board seat with a term that is set to expire on July 31, 2019 with the intention of recommending her for re-appointment to a subsequent full, two-year term to end July 31, 2021, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter and the City Council wish to amend the term of Sheri Reimer’s previously approved appointment to align with the bylaws of the Workforce Innovation Board; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to amending the term of Sheri Reimers’ appointment to the Workforce Innovation Board to end on July 31, 2019.
