Title

Authorizing the Department of Public Works to accept a contribution of $10,000 from At Home Apartments, and amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Public Works Capital Budget by adding $10,000 to the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Improvements Project.

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has been offered a contribution of $10,000 from At Home Apartments located at 1289 Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105; and

 

WHEREAS, At Home Apartments, as well as other members of the community, wanted bump outs installed at all four corners of the Grand Avenue and Syndicate Street intersection as part of the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project and the Department of Public Works recognizes the community’s desire for, and safety benefit of four bump outs at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Syndicate Street; and

 

WHEREAS, the initial project budget allowed for bump outs on only two corners of the intersection and At Home Apartments offered to contribute $10,000 to install bump outs on all four corners; and

 

WHEREAS, Public Works installed bump outs on all four corners of the Grand Avenue and Syndicate Street intersection, the contribution will be used to offset the increased costs of the installation of two additional bump outs; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there is available for appropriation funds of $10,000.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul accepts the contribution from the At Home Apartments in the amount of $10,000 and thanks At Home Apartments for their contribution; and

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and the advice of the Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $10,000 is available for appropriation in the Capital Improvement Budgets, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the following particulars:
