Approving the joint powers agreement between the Saint Paul Fire Department and the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has need of space for a firefighter recruit training academy; and
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis Fire Department has a suitable training space for a firefighter recruit training academy for its own firefighter recruits; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. Section 471.59, two or more governmental units may by an agreement entered into through the action of their governing bodies jointly exercise any common powers; and
WHEREAS, the SPFD and the MFD wish to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement to offer a firefighter recruit training academy to be held in the Minneapolis facility using joint instruction and testing as set out in the JPA; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that this is an efficient way to present the firefighter recruit academy; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the appropriate city officials are hereby authorized to sign a Joint Powers Agreement in substantially the form as attached.
