Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $70,273 from the State of Minnesota for the 2019 Pathways to Law Enforcement Grant.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the Pathway to Policing Reimbursement Grant 2019 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety; and
WHEREAS, this grant is state funded and will provide funding to support the SPPD Law Enforcement Career Path Academy (LECPA) for direct costs relating to training and associated expenses for program participants; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department, along with the program partners, is developing the LECPA program with the goal to make City law enforcement more representative of the community it serves; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the police department to enter into and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota.
