Authorizing the Planning & Economic Department to accept the donation of airfare and hotel costs from Nexus Community Partners for Marcq Sung, Director of Business Development, to attend the 2019 Government Equity Summit: Business Retention through Employee Ownership.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Nexus Community Partners is a local nonprofit that supports strong, equitable and just communities in which all residents are engaged and are recognized as leaders and have pathways to opportunities; and

 

WHEREAS, the nonprofit will be sponsoring the 2019 Government Equity Summit, January 31-February 1, 2019 in San Francisco, where business retention through employee ownership for community wealth building will be discussed; and

 

WHEREAS, Marcq Sung, Director of Business Development, has been invited to attend this forum where airfare, lodging, and meals will be paid by Nexus Community Partners; and

 

WHEREAS, the public purpose of Marcq Sung’s participation in this event is to gain information for business retention and community wealth building; and

 

WHEREAS, the Planning & Economic Development Department would like to accept this unsolicited donation with an estimated value of $1,200 (one thousand two hundred dollars); now

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extends its sincere thanks to Nexus Community Partners, 2314 University Ave, Suite 18, Saint Paul, MN 55114.
