Title

Amending the 2018 financing and spending plans in the Mayor’s Office in the amount of $35,245 to contract with the University of Minnesota on a Public Sector Partnership project for building capacity for recruiting, hiring, and retaining diverse employees across public sector agencies.

Body

WHEREAS, the Public Sector Partnership is a collaboration between the City of Saint Paul, Ramsey County, City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and the State of Minnesota, that seeks to build capacity for recruiting, hiring, and retaining diverse employees across public sector agencies to build a stronger state, country, and municipal workforce; and

WHEREAS, in 2018 the Public Sector Partnership collaborated with the Future Services Institute, an initiative of the Public and Nonprofit Leadership Center at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, the University of Minnesota, on a project to leverage learnings from prior public sector employers to develop and align practices that address barriers within legacy hiring; and

WHEREAS, the project costs will be funded through a $8,811.25 contribution from each partner jurisdiction; and

WHEREAS, Ramsey County, City of Minneapolis, and the State of Minnesota will reimburse the City of Saint Paul for their portion of the project cost, totaling $35,245; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $35,245 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 budget; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, that $35,245 is available for appropriation in the 2018 budget, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified on the attached financial analysis.
