Approving the Mayor’s appointments of Anika Bowie and Travis Grundy to the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission.

Body

WHEREAS, Saint Paul Legislative Code Section 102.02 (a) states that the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by the mayor with the consent of the council; and

WHEREAS, the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission currently has seven (7) members and two (2) vacant seats; and

WHEREAS, Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity staff and commissioners have reviewed applications and conducted interviews of interested applicants; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Saint Paul Legislative Code Section 102.02 (b), the Director of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity leadership have recommended Anika Bowie and Travis Grundy for appointment as commissioners; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Anika Bowie and Travis Grundy to the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission to their first three-year terms ending on November 7, 2021; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Anika Bowie and Travis Grundy to three-year terms ending November 7, 2021 as members of the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission.
