Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $1,868,023 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for portable radios and training for firefighters.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to provide RIT training for firefighers, fire ground training for firefighters and purchase 800 mHz radios; and
WHEREAS, the total grant amount provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would be $2,054,825 of which the federal government would provide $1,868,023 fo the training and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $186,802 which would be paid from 10022210 - Fire Operations over the grant period of performance; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2018 Assistance to Firefighter grant.
