Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for $2,000 from the Home Depot Foundation to purchase tools, materials, and supplies for the department’s Natural Resources volunteer program and, if successful, enter into an agreement with the Home Depot Foundation to accept the grant funds.
Body
WHEREAS, the Home Depot Foundation offers Community Impact Grants, in the form of Home Depot gift cards, to tax-exempt public service agencies that are using the power of volunteers to improve the community; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Natural Resources section engages 4,000 community volunteers annually to improve and conserve Saint Paul's natural areas, educate the community, and keep the City’s parks and gardens healthy and beautiful; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Department of Parks and Recreation to submit a request for a grant of $2,000 to purchase tools, materials and supplies for the volunteer program; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that designated Parks and Recreation staff members are hereby authorized to seek funding on behalf of the City and, if successful, enter into an agreement with Home Depot to accept grant funds, in the form of gift cards to be used for the purchase of tools, material and supplies for the volunteer program.
