WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter and Chief Innovation Officer Tarek Tomes have been invited to be part of a cohort at the 2018 CityLab summit to include global mayors, city innovators and urban leaders to participate in conversation and idea sharing, with the goal of making cities more vibrant and livable; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 CityLab summit will address issues along the theme of opportunity, the future of transportation, housing, public health, economic mobility; and
WHEREAS, The Atlantic, The Aspen Institute and Bloomberg Philanthropies offered to cover the conference registration fees, accommodation, meals, and airfare for Mayor Melvin Carter and Chief Innovation Officer Tarek Tomes to attend the 2018 CityLab summit in an amount not to exceed $2,500 per person; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of conference registration fees and travel expenses for Mayor Melvin Carter and Chief Innovation Officer Tarek Tomes to have attended the 2018 CityLab summit and thanks The Atlantic, The Aspen Institute and Bloomberg Philanthropies for their generosity
