Amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $91,000 to reflect additional 2018 funding expected from Como Friends.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Como Friends is a registered not-for-profit organization formed to promote, support, preserve and enhance the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and

 

WHEREAS, the Como Friends' mission is to inspire generosity to advance Como Park Zoo and Conservatory as a destination where people from all walks of life can gather, learn and enjoy the natural world; and

 

WHEREAS, Como Friends is donating an additional $91,000 to support and enhance the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to establish new budgets in the Grant Fund to receive the projected contribution and donation revenues of $4,000 for the Visitor Center Rooftop Garden, $3,000 for Fern Room Plants, $25,000 for Tropical Encounters Vestibule Interactive Space, $14,000 for the Plaza Garden, $9,000 for Maintenance of Golf Carts, $10,000 for PBO Whisker Game Replacement, $15,000 for Keeper Mobile Offices, $5,000 for Japanese Garden Endowment Supplies, $3,000 for Japanese Garden Training and  $3,000 for the Japanese Garden Brochure; and     

 

WHEREAS, the CIty of Saint Paul wishes to thank Como Friends for thei continued support for allowing Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to accomplish its mission to inspire the public to value the presence of living things in our lives; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $91,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul approves these amendments to the 2018 budget.
