Honoring Kimberly R. O’Brien for her years of service to the City of Saint Paul and the Ward 5 Council Office.

WHEREAS, in 2012 Kimberly R. O’Brien joined the Saint Paul City Council Ward 5 office as Legislative Aide to Councilmember Amy Brendmoen, choosing public service as a next step in her career, applying her education from the University of Colorado, the Humphrey School of Government Affairs, and her prior experience of work in both the private and nonprofit sector
; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure of public service, Kim and her husband, Chris, expanded their family with the addition of two sons, Henry (2013) and Everett (2016), and made Saint Paul their home, moving into the Battle Creek neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, throughout her time in City Hall, Kim has used intelligence, empathy and a strong moral compass to drive her work resulting in notable accomplishments in Ward 5 and throughout the city; notably in the revitalization of the Railroad Island Task Force; expansion of services and hours at Wilder Recreation Center; creation of the North End Development Team; and the establishment of the Washington Technology Magnet Safe Routes to School plan
; and

WHEREAS, Kim’s service has left a lasting impression on constituents and co-workers as they have experienced first-hand, her tenacity for creating improved systems and her follow through on issues until a solution is identified, each contact pursued in a way that always treated others with kindness and joy offered with her warm smile
; and

WHEREAS, Kim is leaving City Hall to broaden her experience and share her gifts and talents in new ventures
.  Her many contributions will carry forward and be celebrated by those who have worked beside her in partnership and purpose; and


NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, in grateful and sincere recognition for her over six and a half years of dedicated public service to the City of Saint Paul and in her many achievements, the Saint Paul City Council hereby honors Kimberly R. O’Brien this First Day of August in the Year Two Thousand and Eighteen
; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby proclaims Wednesday August 1, 2018 to be Kimberly O’Brien Day in the City of Saint Paul.
