Authorizing the Fire Department to pay for all costs incurred by the department to be a host of annual Saint Paul Safety Camp.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Safety Camp is being held July 12-13, 2018 at the Jimmy Lee Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, Safety Camp is sponsored by the Fire Department, Police Department, Parks Department, Regions Hospital, Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, the Boy Scouts of America, MN Bike, Kimberly Horn, Allegra Image 360, Minnesota United, and the Fire Hall and Museum; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Safety Camp to teach inner-city children between the ages of 5 - 14 years old lessons in health and safety including fire safety, water safety, pedestrian safety, animal safety, bike safety, sports safety, self-defense, and first aid; and
WHEREAS, there will be a celebratory picnic and award ceremony to recognize the camp participants and food will be served; and
WHEREAS, the expenditure of money for the supplies serves a public purpose by celebrating the accomplishments of the children completing the Safety Camp; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the expendiure of funds not to exceed $2,400 for supplies for Safety Camp.
