Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to provide an accessible kayak dock at no cost to the City.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to install the floating dock at Lake Phalen; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, through its Commissioner of Department of Natural Resources, is willing to provide an accessible kayak dock to the City at no cost to the city for a period of no less than 10 years; and
WHEREAS, the Minn. Stat. Section 471.59 authorizes two or more governmental units by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, to jointly or cooperatively exercise any common powers; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the operation and maintenance of the dock will provide opportunities for the public to enjoy new recreational activities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into the cooperative agreement attached.
