Title

Authorizing the Police Department to enter into the 3rd Amendment of the Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota for SPPD bomb disposal service.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management division which includes an indemnification clause (RES 15-1616); and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement allows for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by the department’s bomb disposal unit for assistance provided as requested by the State as specified; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement has been previously amended (RES 17-20) and the State of Minnesota would like to again amend this Joint Powers Agreement a third time to extend the term through June 30, 2020 and increase the contract $75,000 for a total amount not to exceed $164,500; and

 

WHEREAS, additionally, this amendment will increase the hourly rate to charge for SPPD’s bomb disposal services from $175 to $205 per hour; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached Joint Powers Agreement, which includes an indemnification clause.
