Authorizing the Police Department to submit a request for small arms from the State of Minnesota as part of the U.S. Department of Justice Firearm Transfer Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) would like to submit the no cost request for small arms from the State of Minnesota as part of the U.S. Department of Justice Firearm Transfer Program; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to help resolve the equipment needs for the tactical units, which have depreciated and diminished resulting in reduced equipment inventory and also budget constraints for replacement equipment; and
WHEREAS, the department would like to take the opportunity to apply for a small firearms transfer to assist that the department has the equipment needed to be prepared to respond to active safety incidents in the community; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council authorizes the City of Saint Paul, Police Department to submit the request to the State of Minnesota.
