Title

Authorizing the Police Department to amend the Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and amend the 2018 Special Fund Budget for this amendment.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) entered  into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety on behalf of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) (RES 17-1558); and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement allowed SPPD and the BCA to work together to investigate and prosecute human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children; and

 

WHEREAS, the BCA has presented an amended agreement which includes the changes outlining the process and allowances for the BCA to reimburse SPPD for expenses relating to the services provided to this task force; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2018 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $116,521 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 budget and recommends the changes as specified in the attached financial analysis; now

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council authorizes the City of Saint Paul to accept this amended Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota and approves these changes to the 2018 budget.
