Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for funds from the Disney Play Spaces grant program in an amount of up to $30,000, and if funds are granted, authorizing staff to apply for reimbursement from the grant funds approved for the Parque Castillo project.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation, is redesigning Parque de Castillo; and
WHEREAS, new park amenities selected with input of the community include an interactive water feature, play equipment, pathways and walking trail within the park; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation would like to seek additional money to make upgrades to surfacing and expand the play area; and
WHEREAS, 2018 NRPA/Disney Play Spaces grant program offers grant funds to projects that achieve the goals of providing access to inclusive play spaces and increased physical activity to the most underserved communities using innovative and scalable solutions; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for, and if approved, accept said grant, and authorizes the appropriate city officials to execute any documents necessary to do so.
