Providing impound boarding services for neighboring municipalities.
Body
WHEREAS, a number of neighboring municipalities are in need of impound boarding services because the facility they contracted with is no longer providing these services; and
WHEREAS, these jurisdictions have approached the City of Saint Paul to request boarding services associated with the impounding of animals; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Animal Control facility has the capacity to house additional animals beyond those impounded in Saint Paul, and has proposed fees for the services which would cover the costs of housing animals impounded by another jurisdiction and a contract for the services to be performed; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. §471.59, subd. 10, a governmental unit may with the approval of its governing body, enter into agreements with another governmental unit to perform services or functions it is authorized to provide for itself; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Safety and Inspections to enter into agreements, in substantially the form of that attached hereto, with neighboring jurisdictions for the provision of boarding services in connection with impounding of animals by those jurisdictions.
