Amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $265,740 to reflect additional 2018 funding expected from Como Friends.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Como Friends is a registered not-for-profit organization formed to promote, support, preserve and enhance the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and

 

WHEREAS, the Como Friends' mission is to inspire generosity to advance Como Park Zoo and Conservatory as a destination where people from all walks of life can gather, learn and enjoy the natural world; and

 

WHEREAS, Como Friends is donating an additional $265,740 to support and enhance the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to establish new budgets in the Grant Fund to receive the projected contribution and donation revenues of $46,140 for the Japanese Garden Exit Path, $35,000 for Conservation Champs, $9,000 for Old Barn Signs, $7,000 for Children’s Gallery, $32,500 for the website, $5,000 for Bison Watering, $50,000 for the Gorilla Outdoor Training Area, $5,600 for the purchase of a Scrubber, $500 for Browse Freezer, $30,000 for Priva Upgrade, $15,000 for 2nd Grade Field Trips, $10,000 for Security Coverage and $20,000 for the Japanese Garden Endowment; and    

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to thank Como Friends for their continued support for allowing Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to accomplish their mission to inspire the public to value the presence of living things in our lives; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $265,740 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul approves these amendments to the 2018 budget.
