Accepting a gift of up to $1,300 from the National League of Cities to cover expenses for Councilmember Chris Tolbert to attend and speak at the National League of Cities Silicon Valley Policy Roundtable, February 7 - 9, 2018.

WHEREAS, the National League of Cities is a resource and advocate for the nation’s cities and their leaders, founded in 1924 after state municipal leagues saw the need for a national organization to strengthen local government; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities, working in partnership with the state municipal leagues, including the League of Minnesota Cities, of which Saint Paul is a member; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, under the leadership of Councilmember Tolbert and in partnership with public and private organizations, created Full Stack Saint Paul, which is a broad public/private partnership to implement strategies to attract, retain, and expand tech and innovation jobs in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities Silicon Valley Policy Roundtable provides an opportunity for Councilmember Chris Tolbert further Full Stack Saint Paul’s efforts to make people aware of the vibrant innovation culture in Saint Paul and build and support key pipelines for growing innovation talent in Saint Paul, especially among under-represented populations; and
WHEREAS, the Silicon Valley Policy Roundtable will be held between February 7th and 9th in San Francisco, California and Silicon Valley; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities has offered to pay the airfare, hotel, and other expenses for Councilmember Tolbert to attend the Roundtable; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that City hereby accepts the donation of an amount up to $1,400 to cover expenses associated with Councilmember Tolbert speaking at the National League of Cities Silicon Valley Policy Roundtable in February, 2018; and be it,
