Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept contributions of $80,000 from the Berglund Family and Cedarwood Foundations for restoration of the historic Schiffman Fountain in Como Regional Park.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation manages and maintains ornamental sculptures and fountains in the park system, including the historic Schiffman Fountain in Como Regional Park; and
WHEREAS; this beloved sculpture and fountain has fallen into disrepair and is in need of an extensive restoration; and
WHEREAS; the Department of Parks and Recreation has worked with an art conservator to evaluate, design a plan, and estimate the cost of the restoration work needed; and
WHEREAS; representatives from both the Berglund Family and Cedarwood Foundations became aware of the needed restoration and expressed desire to donate up to $80,000 to be used towards such work in 2018; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the funding from the Berglund Family and Cedarwood Foundations for the restoration of the Schiffman Fountain and thanks them for their generous gift.
