Authorizing Visit Saint Paul to Coordinate Planning of Mayor-Elect Carter’s Inauguration and related events.

WHEREAS, Mayor-Elect Carter’s inauguration will take place during the week of January 2, 2018 and in connection with the inauguration there will be related events (“the Events”), all of which will be open to the public; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Coleman has designated the RiverCentre Convention and Visitors Authority d/b/a/ Visit Saint Paul to solicit donations to pay for the Events pursuant to Section 41.30(f) of the Saint Paul Administrative Code; and
WHEREAS, as the designee to raise funds for the Events, it is desired that Visit Saint Paul oversee planning of the Events which includes entering into contracts for the Events and paying any costs related to the Events with the funds raised; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the Events will be an opportunity to unify the City and allow the public to celebrate the beginning of the Carter administration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes Visit Saint Paul to plan the Events which includes entering into contracts for the Events and paying all expenses from funds raised for the Events; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that donations for the Events are hereby accepted as gifts to the City to be used for the purpose of hosting the Inauguration and related events.
