Authorizing Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $90,000 from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for the 2017 State Homeland Security Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit has been awarded the 2017 State Homeland Security Program a federally funded grant, from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division in the amount of $90,000 for a term of January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funding for upgrades and existing equipment maintenance which will improve safety and effectiveness while accomplishing purposes as specified; and
WHEREAS, this grant also provides funding for training in conjunction with other state teams training for land based and maritime based operations to meet federal standards; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant, and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
