Purpose of Appeal:
1) Basement Dryer - was just rebuilt in last year of two for fire inspector,
2) Exterior - would like an extension for some of the work,
3) Unit 2, Unit 3 - both have used the room in question as bedrooms for decades. Window exits going into back entryway.

WHEREAS, in the matter of the Appeal of Matt Jackson to a Fire Inspection Correction Notice at 529-531 LAUREL AVENUE, the Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed the appeal and considered the testimony of City staff and the appellant; and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends that the City Council
1) deny the appeal on the dryer vent and grant an extension to January 1, 2018 to come into compliance;
2) grant an extension to January 1, 2018 to repair the rotten wood trim;
3) grant an extension to June 1, 2018 for the exterior painting; and
4) grant the appeals on the rear bedroom egress order, as there are a) existing smoke alarm system in stairwell; b) existing two methods of exits from sleeping rooms; and c) conditioned on installation of battery operated smoke detectors in sleeping rooms; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts and adopts the Legislative Hearing Officer's recommendation in this matter.
