Authorizing acceptance of a Minnesota State Historical Society scholarship grant for one Heritage Preservation Commissioner to attend the Preserve Minnesota Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference.

WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED) will incur costs associated with a member of the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) attending the Preserve Minnesota Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) is willing to contribute a scholarship grant to the City to be applied towards the HPC member’s costs of attendance in an amount not to exceed $351.94, provided; the City accepts the grant subject to an agreement requirement that the City indemnify, save, and hold the Minnesota Historical Society ("MHS") and the United States Department of the Interior ("Interior") and their agents and employees harmless from any claims or cause of action, including attorney's fees, incurred by the MHS and Interior arising out of the agreement by the City; NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the appropriate personnel in PED to apply for, accept, and enter into the said scholarship grant agreement with the MHS; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City desires to recognize the MHS’s ongoing preservation work in the City and thanks the MHS for its financial assistance in defraying the City’s costs to have an HPC member attend the Preserve Minnesota Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference.
