Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $7,000 from the Target Corporation for the Technology Unit and Bike Cops for Kids program.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Police Department was awarded a grant from the Target Corporation in the amount of $7,000; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant will help fund training for the new hires for the Police Video Evidence Team which manages the filing of video footage through body worn cameras and the Capital City Bike Cops for Kids whose aim is to make city streets safer for our youth and foster positive police interactions; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2017 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $7,000  in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to the 2017 budget; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen  to implement the plan as outlined in the attached application; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council authorizes changes to the grant budget as specified in the attached financial analysis.
