Title

Authorizing the City to enter Into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota for the 2017 Human Rights Symposium.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute §471.579, subdivision 10, allows two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota wishes to partner with the City of Saint Paul to secure a conference facility for the 2017 Human Rights Symposium to be held on December 12 - 13, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul shall contract with the Saint Paul RiverCentre to reserve space, labor, furniture and technology necessary for the 2017 Human Rights Symposium; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota will reimburse the City of Saint Paul for actual costs of labor and equipment expenses the City incurs when renting the RiverCentre, not to exceed a $25,000; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the attached JPA and all documents necessary for participation in Human Rights Symposium with the State of Minnesota.
