Authorizing the Police Department to take several community members to the Smithsonian-African American History and Culture Museum in Washington, D.C.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) attended the dedication of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, SPPD would like to take 7-8 community members to visit the museum selecting from the young people from the community; and
WHEREAS, the cost of this trip will be approximately $14,000 and will be funded by the Community Engagement Unit’s project budget; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose is to promote community engagement activities; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that city council authorizes the City of Saint Paul Police Department to travel to Washington, D.C and visit the Smithsonian with selected community members.
