Title

Accepting a redevelopment grant from the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Livable Communities Tax Base Revitalization Account grants from Metropolitan Council and amending the 2017 Budget.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City Council, on February 1, 2017, by Resolution number 17-182, authorized the Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development to submit an application to DEED for a redevelopment grant for the West Side Flats/Fillmore Avenue Project; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council, on April 19, 2017, by Resolution number 17-601, authorized the Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development to submit applications to DEED for Contamination Cleanup and Investigation Grants and the Metropolitan Council Tax Base Revitalization Account Cleanup and Site Investigation Grants for projects at 838 Selby Avenue, 940 Selby Avenue,  Capitol Region Watershed District, Exchange Street Apartments, Pioneer Press Affordable Housing, and West Side Flats Phase 3 (A and B) sites; and

                    

WHEREAS, the Department of Employment and Economic Development and the Metropolitan Council have approved the following grant applications:

 

§                     Redevelopment Grant Program grant of $75,000.00 for the Fillmore Site Project;

 

§                     Livable Communities Tax Base Revitalization Account grants of $750,000.00 for the Pioneer Press Affordable Housing, and of $343,700.00 for the West Side Flats 3 (A and B); and 

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby certify that $1,168,700.00 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the changes to the 2017 budget identified on the attachment Budget Amendment:

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul accept this grant and approve the change identified on the attachment Budget Amendment to the 2017 budget.
