Authorizing the Department of Safety and Inspections to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement ("JPA") with the State of Minnesota regarding hotel fire inspections.
Body
WHEREAS, the State, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 299F.46 is required to develop a plan to inspect once every three years every hotel in this state; and
WHEREAS, the State, under Minnesota Statutes §§ 471.59, subdivision 10 and 299F.46, subdivision 2 is empowered to enter into an agreement with the City of Saint Paul to perform fire code inspections of hotels; and
WHEREAS, the State is asking the City of Saint Paul to enter into a Hotel Inspection Joint Powers Agreement ("JPA"), attached hereto and incorporated by reference; an
WHEREAS, the JPA calls for a representative of Saint Paul's Department of Safety and Inspections to conduct all hotel fire inspections within their jurisdiction in accordance with the provisions of the JPA; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has reviewed the JPA asking for the City of Saint Paul's assistance to the State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul, by the authority granted under Minnesota Statute 471.59, authorizes the execution of the attached Hotel Inspection Joint Powers Agreement
