Authorizing the Saint Paul Fire Department to enter into a joint powers agreement with Century College for the use of our Fire Training Center.
Body
WHEREAS, Century College requires facilities for conducting live firefighting training and has requested the use of the Saint Paul Fire's Training Center; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department utilizes Century College for firefighter training classes including apprenticeship classes, customized classes, and promotional testing; and
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. Section 471.59 authorizes two or more governmental units to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies; and
WHEREAS, the attached Joint Powers Agreement will benefit the Fire Department by accruing credits for training through Century College in return for use of the Fire Training Center, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the Saint Paul Fire Department to enter into the attache JPA with Century College.
