Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $9,700 from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the Angler and Hunter Recruitment and Retention grant. 

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the Angler and Hunter Recruitment and Retention from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) in the amount of $9,700 which includes an indemnification clause; and

 

WHEREAS, developing a grants program is one strategy the state is using to expand the reach of the DNR’s Outreach section programs and increase hunter and angler recruitment and retentions; and

 

WHEREAS, the SPPD will be using the grant for the PAL program, Cops and Bobbers events, which focuses on families and youth from Saint Paul and fulfills the MNDNR’s goal to reach underrepresented audiences, especially communities of color and new immigrants; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2017 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $9,700 in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the following changes; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves these changes to the 2017 budget.
