Approving the Mayor's appointment of Beth Burns to serve on the Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) Board of Trustees.

WHEREAS, Peter Pearson, as President of The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, was appointed to the MELSA Board of Trustees on October 15, 2015 to succeed Councilmember Chris Tolbert who had served for two years; and
WHEREAS, Peter Pearson will retire from The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library on December 31, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Beth Burns has been selected the new President of The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and will officially assume her role on January 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, in consultation with the Chair of the Library Board, Mayor Chris Coleman has appointed Beth Burns as the new Saint Paul Public Library representative to the MELSA Board of Trustees; therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Saint Paul City Council consents to and approves the appointment made by the Mayor of Beth Burns to serve on the MELSA Board of Trustees.
