Authorizing the Fire Department to enter a Joint Powers Agreement with the Minnesota Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team.

WHEREAS, the cities of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Edina, and the County of Dakota wish to establish the Minnesota Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team for the purpose of establishing, training, equipping, maintaining and deploying Minnesota Task Force One to incidents inside and outside the State of Minnesota as may be requested by a local agency or other unit of government pursuant to Minnesota Statute §§12.33, 12.331, 12.351, 192.89, or 192.91; and
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. § 471.59 authorizes such joint exercise of powers; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Joint Powers Agreement will benefit the citizens of Saint Paul, and beyond; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached Joint Powers Agreement; a copy of said agreement is to be kept on file and of record in the Fire Department.
