Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, to accept a grant from the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation to be used for flight, hotel , transportation and food costs for participants to Fall Study Circle program.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory educates volunteers, interns and visitors on environmental issues; and

 

WHEREAS, National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI) is heavily supported by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and has requested Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s participation in the Fall 2016 Study Circle Program being hosted by NNOCCI ; and

 

WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s mission is “To inspire our public to value the presence of living things in our lives” and information from the Study Circle will be of value for our visitors; and

 

WHEREAS, NCOCCI is prepared to give Como $7,500 for  flight, hotel, transportation, lodging,  and food costs for staff to attend each of the three sessions across the country and  $3,000 a stipend for work done at Como; and


WHEREAS,  participation in the Study Circle will be a valuable learning opportunity for staff; 
now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the funding for the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Education staff to attend the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpreation Fall 2016 Study Circle Program.
