Accepting gifts of travel from the Better Block Foundation for Councilmembers Amy Brendmoen and Rebecca Noecker and staff Joe Mendyka to attend the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls Study Tour.

WHEREAS Saint Paul has been selected as a Knight Foundation Community; and
WHEREAS 26 other communities across the country are also Knight communities including Akron, Ohio; and
WHEREAS communities and funders have expressed interest in learning from the work being done in other cities; and
WHEREAS the Knight Foundation believes in the value of bringing small cohorts from the city to visit communities doing innovative planning; and
WHEREAS Knight Foundation has worked with Better Block Foundation to develop a three day study tour of Akron, OH; and
WHEREAS the tour includes Exchange House, Cuyahoga Falls, strategic discussion from multiple Knight Communities and a bike tour of Akron and the Better Block; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of airfare, hotel, ground transport and meal costs, not to exceed $2000 per person ($500 per person travel expenses), from the Better Block Foundation and appropriates it to the use of reimbursing those costs incurred by the attendance of Councilmembers Amy Brendmoen and Rebecca Noecker and Joe Mendyka, Community Engagement Coordinator, at the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls Study Tour August 24 to 26, 2016, and further thanks the Better Block Foundation and the Knight Foundation for their generous gift.
