Supporting the Urban Cross initiative hosted by Mounds Park United Methodist Church.

Whereas, Mounds Park United Methodist Church traces its beginning back to 1857 when Minnesota was still a territory and has been in its current location since it was dedicated on Easter Sunday in 1921; and
Whereas, Mounds Park United Methodist Church endeavors to remain a beacon of hope in the community as they reach out through new ministries and has challenged itself to better meet the needs of its neighborhood; and
Whereas, Urban Cross is a grass-roots locally grown mission project whereby neighbors and faith community members help the Dayton’s Bluff community and serve the neighborhood; and
Whereas, Urban Cross activates adults and youth from across the state to spend a week in Dayton’s Bluff serving the community; and
Whereas, Urban Cross will be working on neighborhood improvement projects from June 12 through June 18 2016; and
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Saint Paul City Council, that the City of Saint Paul supports and celebrates the work of faith communities like Mounds Park United Methodist Church and their activities such as Urban Cross that enhance neighborhoods by reaching out to help neighbors in need, increase the livability of our neighborhoods and strengthen the fabric of our community in Saint Paul; and
Be it further resolved that June 12 - 18 is Urban Cross Week in the City of Saint Paul in recognition of the community service work being done.
