Accepting the gift of travel and lodging from Bloomberg Philanthropies for Mayor Chris Coleman and Anne Hunt to attend the 2016 U.S.-China Climate-Smart/Low-Carbon Cities Summit in Beijing.

WHEREAS, Mayor Chris Coleman and Environmental Policy Director Anne Hunt have been invited by the White House to participate in the 2016 U.S.-China Climate-Smart/Low-Carbon Cities Summit in Beijing on June 7-8, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the Summit is an opportunity for U.S. and Chinese state and local government, private sector, and civil society leaders to share experiences in building low-carbon, climate-resilient communities; and
WHEREAS, the Summit will be an opportunity for participants from both countries to demonstrate their shared commitment to climate action following the successful Paris Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Bloomberg Philanthropies has offered to cover the travel and lodging costs associated with Mayor Coleman and Anne Hunt’s participation in the Summit, not to exceed $9,000; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel and lodging in association with Mayor Chris Coleman and Anne Hunt’s participation in the 2016 U.S.- China Climate-Smart/Low-Carbon Cities Summit and thanks Bloomberg Philanthropies for their generosity.
