Approving the polling location and precinct boundary changes for the August 9, 2016 Primary Election and the November 8, 2016 General Election.

WHEREAS, the elections staff completed their annual inspection of polling places and have the following recommendations for the designation of new polling places in preparation for the 2016 elections, and
WHEREAS, the elections staff also recommend changing some precinct boundaries to be more efficient, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 204B.16, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves the following list of polling precinct location changes for the August 9, 2016 Primary Election, and November 8, 2016 General Election.
Ward 2 Precinct 3
Current location: Adams School
Proposed location: Awaken Community Church
Ward 2 Precinct 5
Current location: Awaken Community Church
Proposed location: Palace Community Center
Ward 2 Precinct 12
Current location: Cherokee Heights Elementary School
Proposed location: Baker Community Center
Ward 6 Precinct 1
Current location: Johnson High School
Proposed location: Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church
Ward 6 Precinct 2
Current location: Farnsworth School
Proposed location: First Covenant Church
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 204B.14, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves the following list of polling precinct boundary changes for the August 9, 2016 Primary Election, and November 8, 2016 General Election.
Create a new precinct - Ward 1 Precinct 17, bounded by Rice Street, Atwater Street, Marion Street, and Front Steet
Proposed polling location: Rice Street Library
Combine the portion of Ward 6 Precinct 9 located east of Johnson Parkway and Ward 6 Precinct 13, to be renamed Ward 6 Precinct 9
Proposed polling location: Hazel Park Recreation Center
The part of the current Precinct 9 that is located west of Johnson Parkway would then be combined with Precinct 5.
AND BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, should further changes occur in the polling locations between the date of this resolution and November 8, 2016, the Ramsey County Election Office is hereby authorized to find appropriate locations in which to hold the elections. A postal notification will be sent to all registered voters affected by the changes.
