Declaring April 27, 2016, Anne White Day in the City of Saint Paul.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Anne White has been a tremendous community advocate during her years as a resident of the City of Saint Paul, and of Ward 4; and

WHEREAS, Anne has given her time and energy to the Union Park District Council, the District Councils Collaborative (DCC), the Transportation Committee of the Planning Commission, and St Paul Walks and the Stop for Me pedestrian safety campaign; and

WHEREAS, Anne was an advocate with the Stops for Us group that worked to add the Green Line stations at Western, Victoria, and Hamline; and

WHEREAS, Anne worked with Skyline Towers to fill in a sidewalk gap along St. Anthony Avenue; and

WHEREAS, most recently, Anne’s dedication over the past year to improving pedestrian safety by cultivating an incredible partnership between community advocates and the Saint Paul Police Department has led to the Stop for Me pedestrian safety campaign; and

WHEREAS, the Stop for Me campaign will have thirty-four community pedestrian safety education and enforcement events across the City in 2016, and will improve and enliven pedestrians’ experience in Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, Anne is retiring to New York in May, and will be sorely missed in Saint Paul, even though she has committed to working remotely on Stop for Me for another year; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council declares April 27, 2016, Anne White Day in the City of Saint Paul and thanks her for her time, energy, and commitment to our City and neighborhoods.
