Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation in the amount of $20,000 from the Midway Men's Club for Parks and Recreation Centers and programs.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, through recreation centers and programs offers many events, classes and activities for youth and families in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Midway Men's Club is a fundraising group which has supported youth activities through monetary donations in the Midway area since 1960; and
WHEREAS, the Midway Men's Club wishes to donate $19,500 for use in 2016 to enhance youth programming within Saint Paul through the following Parks and Recreation Centers and programs:
The Canvas Teen Arts Center $1,000
Adaptive Recreation $1,500
Hancock Recreation Center $3,000
West Minnehaha Recreation Center $3,000
North Dale Recreation Center $1,000
Merriam Park Recreation Center $1,000
McDonough Recreation Center $1,000
MLK Recreation Center $1,000
Rice Recreation Center $1,000
Summer Blast $2,500
Northwest Como Recreation Center $1,000
North Dale Fall Blast $1,000
Scheffer Recreation Center $1,000
Youth Commission $1,000
WHEREAS, the money will be used to create and support programs for neighborhood youth offered by Saint Paul Parks and Recreation at the above listed Recreation Centers and programs; now, therefore,be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation in the amount of $20,000, appropriates it for the intended uses, and thanks the Midway Men's Club for its generous donation.
