Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept funds from the Knight Foundation Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation, for MRAJ LLC, Little Box Sauna, for the month-long event at Como Regional Park.

Whereas, Knight Foundation Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports transformational ideas that promote quality journalism, advance media innovation, engage communities and foster the arts; and
Whereas, the Little Box Sauna event from February 5-28, 2016, aligns well with the mission and scope of the 8 80 Vitality Fellow’s mission to activate public places in Saint Paul where people can connect, deepen the community fabric and have fun; and
Whereas, Knight Foundation Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation has offered to co-sponsor the Little Box Sauna in Como Regional Park, allowing residents to visit the sauna at no cost. The amount will not exceed $4,500; and
Whereas, this month-long activity will do much to create excitement in the City of Saint Paul and allow for a new way to enjoy winter and interact with one another while enjoying a healthy and invigorating experience. The sauna will invite people to experience one of our most valuable assets, Como Regional Park, and shed yet another positive light on the wonder of urban living,
WHEREAS, a budget needs to be established for this gift which will be used for the purpose of paying MRAJ LLC for the Little Box Sauna event in Saint Paul from February 5-28, 2016;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby accept the gift of up to $4,500 from Knight Foundation Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation, amends the Planning and Economic Development grant budget as noted in the attached financial analysis form, and appropriates the funds to the purpose of paying MRAJ LLC, with thanks for the Knight Foundation Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation for this generous gift; and
