Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $63,000 from the State of Minnesota, Departement of Public Safety for sex trafficking and training programs.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Sex Trafficking Investigations and Training 2016 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety through their Office of Justice Programs in the amount of $63,000 for a term of January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, this grant is state funded (Chapter 65, Article 1, Section 11, Subdivision 6) and provides funding to support new or existing multijurisdictional entities to investigate sex trafficking crimes and to provide technical assistance for sex trafficking crimes, including training and case consultation to law enforcement agencies statewide; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant, and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas E. Smith to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety.
